Sustainability & Legacy

Since opening our doors more than 20 years ago, ExCeL London has firmly established itself as one of the UK's leading international exhibition and conference centres.

Yet this success is not just down to providing world-class facilities, our owners, staff, event organisers and exhibitors all share our wider purpose of creating a positive impact on the local community and the world around us. We truly believe in caring for our people and our planet.

More importantly, our aim is to use our platform - and the four million people who grace our venue every year - to inform and inspire others to play their part in tackling the climate emergency.

As well as supporting five local charity partners, we are immensely proud of our achievements to date from using 100% renewable energy, sending zero waste to landfill (and recycling 71% of it), earning the 'Triple Crown of Sustainability' and even housing the UK's largest wormery. We have also signed up to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge, committing us to achieve a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030.

We recognise sustainable development as fundamental to our success and endeavour to operate as a responsible corporate business, focusing on five key areas; Climate Action, Resource Efficiency, Client Engagement, Community Engagement and People.

Our vision is to be a sustainability leader within our industry by shaping the future of events into one that is net zero, resource efficient and equitable.
