On 21st November, the largest medical convention ever staged in the Capital will open at ExCeL London, bringing with it an estimated £30m boost for the London economy.

Over five days, Gastro 2009, UEGW/WCOG London will attract in excess of 13,000 delegates each day including leading global experts and practitioners in the field of gastroenterology. Attendees will convene at ExCeL London to share ideas, make contacts and learn about the latest developments and innovations in this field of medicine.

James Rees, Director of Conferences and Events at ExCeL London commented: "Gastro 2009 is a hugely important convention for us, highlighting ExCeL London’s capabilities as a world-class, international venue and demonstrating the City’s power to attract record delegate numbers."

He continued; "The event represents the first convention where we have worked with the full support of Visit London, the GLA and The Mayor’s Office to ensure that the delegates of Gastro 2009 receive a fantastic welcome to the Capital and experience the very best of what London has to offer. The success of this partnership, coupled with the opening of London’s first international convention centre at ExCeL on 1st May 2010 will enable us to bring further economic benefit to the city from a market estimated to be £100billion annually."
