  • ExCeL London February 2009

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office announced today that it will host the summit in April at ExCeL London, the international exhibition & conference centre.

The London Summit will bring together leaders of the world's advanced and emerging economies, including the G20, and representatives of international financial institutions to work cooperatively to restore stability and stimulate global economic growth. Leaders will travel from across the globe to attend this crucial event.

ExCeL London was chosen from an extensive list of venues and cities due to its easy access for delegates and the world media; world class facilities; flexible meeting space and reputation of hosting successful events.

Commenting on the London summit, David Pegler, MD, ExCeL London: "This is fantastic news for ExCeL and London. We have been steadily attracting an increasing number of international and high profile events to our venue, many of which have rated ExCeL as their most successful event with the highest delegate and visitor numbers. The selection of ExCeL as the venue for the London Summit is testament to our international standing as a premier meeting and events destination."

Pegler further added: "This validates our £160m investment in expanding our venue exhibition hall capacity and building the London International Convention Centre at ExCeL. Opening in spring 2010, facilities include a fully flexible seated auditorium for 5,000 delegates, conference suite with 17 flexible meeting rooms for up to 2,000 delegates, banqueting hall seating 3,000 and the latest technology. This will further cement London's reputation as a world class city for hosting successful events and conferences and help in attracting even more high calibre international business to the Capital."
