ExCeL London looks to build US market

ExCeL London has set its sights on expanding its US market, following the appointment of international marketing company Marketing Challenge International (MCI) to represent the venue to prospective corporate and association clients across the US; with a focus upon the North American market.

Vanessa Cotton, managing director of ExCeL London Conference and Events says: "Enlisting the support of MCI will help us to further position London as a leading convention destination to the international market. The development of the venue will enable the ExCeL London brand to expand globally and we needed a marketing company which understood the US market to help us to do this.

Michel Couturier, President of MCI said: "We are delighted to win the contract to promote this award winning venue to our home market. With such versatile space, and great transport links ExCeL London is an ideal venue for US corporate and association business."

This announcement follows the launch of ExCeL London's plans for its Phase II building development last week. The extension will increase the size of the current venue space by over 50 percent, taking it to 100,000 m2 - the equivalent of 14 football pitches, and is due for completion Spring 2010.

"Our Phase II plans will be an important part of enticing these buyers to ExCeL London; the new semi-permanent auditorium will be able to host up to 5,000 delegates and will be joined with additional conference facilities for up to 2,000 delegates as well as casual seated dining for up to 940 visitors," concluded Cotton
