London - March 2005 - 2004 saw ExCeL's business grow dramatically. However, January's calendar showed a 135% increase in contracted events and 120% increase in value year on year for 2005. To add to these results, ExCeL has also signed the British International Motor Show and five other new shows in the last month alone.
Commenting on ExCeL's busy event calendar, Kevin Murphy, ExCeL's Deputy CEO and MD of Exhibitions: "ExCeL is proving that events can flourish and grow here. This is reflected in our substantial increase in contracted bookings for 2005 and onwards. The signing of the British International Motor Show has brought the total number of events signed in the last year to 148. This year alone we have obtained a 94% increase in launch shows and a 25% increase in transfer shows. Organisers keen to ensure they don't miss the crucial dates for their shows are snapping up the available key diary dates. With 9 out of 10 of London's top trade shows, ExCeL is a major player in the events industry. 2005 is already a fantastic year for the venue and we are looking forward to working with our organisers to ensure their events are successful."
Apart from the British International Motor Show, the recent shows that have signed up to ExCeL since the beginning of the year include:
Event Director, Mick Bennett from the Cycle Show commented,"Moving to ExCeL is great news for the continued growth of the show and an opportunity for us to offer both the trade and consumers a show that exceeds their expectations."
Says Declan Canning, Event Coordinator, Salute: "We have decided to move Salute to ExCeL in 2006 because the size and flexibility of ExCeL enables us to continue to offer gamers from all over the UK and beyond the show they want, at the size they want at a world class venue. We are excited about the future and working at a venue which can grow as we do."
