ExCeL London-ling at Confex 2004

  • 168% increase in contracted conference & special events business for 2004
  • London's largest auditorium & banqueting hall
  • Campus complete

The opening of all the on-site hotels now means that customers have a choice of luxury hotels such as the 5-star Sunborn Yacht Hotel, 4-Star Holiday Inn, Ramada and Novotel, through to more budget hotels such as the 3-Star Quality Hotel and 2-Star Ibis, Travel Inn and Custom House Hotel. All hotels have bar and restaurant facilities, some with magnificent waterfront views and health & fitness facilities.

Hotels such as the Holiday Inn and Ramada Hotel have VIP Suites, which include separate sitting room, private balcony, plasma TV screens, DVD players and kitchenette. The Sunborn Yacht Hotel has two luxurious Royal Suites, which have separate bedroom & living areas, a sauna and access to a 20-metre terrace.

The recent introduction of London's largest semi-permanent auditorium and banqueting hall, which can hold from 1,000 up to 20,000, as well as a single billing process has seen ExCeL London's conference business grow significantly, catapulting the venue yet further into the conference market limelight.

2003 has seen a 32% increase in business revenue in its Conferences & Special Events and 2004 is already seeing a 168% increase in contracted business compared to 2003. These figures demonstrate that ExCeL London's conference facilities are attracting a high calibre of conference organisers and delegates. The quality and diversity of events that ExCeL London's conference team are hosting, is extremely high, with big corporate companies such as AstraZeneca, Marks & Spencer, BT, Tesco, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and the NHS Modernisation Service all staging events here.

Visitors to the stand will be able to see the new advertising campaign that breaks in January, the new bespoke conference organiser section on the website and can take away copies of the new brochure. Members of the Sales Team and Marketing Department will be on hand to talk to visitors about all that the newly completed campus now has to offer.

Says James Rees, Head of Sales, Conferences & Special Events: "Confex is the perfect opportunity for us to talk face-to-face with potential new customers and showcase why ExCeL London is becoming a major player in the Conferences and Special Events market. There are very few venues that can match the quality, facilities and campus environment that ExCeL London offers.

Our greatest strength lies in the ability for big companies such as Toyota or the BBC to come in and create their own unique brand experience within our halls. Similarly we're a popular choice for smaller events such as training seminars in our naturally lit waterfront rooms, whilst the Conference Centre provides a flexible, high-spec, ready dressed, self-contained unit for medium to large sized events."
