There can be few places around the world as vibrant and diverse as London. With a rich cultural mix, fascinating history and eclectic architectural style, the possibilities for business events are almost endless. Little wonder that London is one of the most sought after destinations in the world,

In October, as a grand finale to National Meetings Week, Visit London is inviting meeting and conference planners to attend a half day presentation at London’s newest conference centre, ExCeL, to find out why London is a great place to hold an event now, get an update on London venues, find out what the plans are for the future to make London a leading conference destination and how London is evolving to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The 'New London Now' presentation will be led by industry experts who will provide thought provoking insights into what's going on in the London MICE world.

Planners are also invited to attend a party the night before and stay overnight at one of ExCeL's 5 on-site hotels. As part of the party, you will be picked up at Olympia and then taken by boat from Central London to Canary Wharf. At Canary Wharf you will be taken on a brief tour of several leading venues, such as the new Marriott at West India Quay, Ubon by Nobu, Conran's Plateau, the East Wintergardens and the Museum in Docklands. Each of the venues will put on a short, engaging experience to give you a flavour of their capabilities and facilities. Numbers are limited, so please book early.

After that, a coach will take you to one of ExCeL's onsite hotels, where you will have an hour to get ready before the 'New London Now' party at ExCeL's newly redeveloped Platinum Suite. The party will be a showcase of modern London with drinks, food, dancing and entertainment. It will be the perfect opportunity to network with colleagues and mingle with the European and UK conference & event media.

When you register to attend the event, you will be asked to indicate whether you wish to attend the party and/or the conference. You are free to attend either or both, including the fam trip to Canary Wharf. Planners attending the presentation may take advantage of the complimentary overnight accommodation, subject to availability.

Everybody with a confirmed place will be notified in writing with their hotel details and itinerary by September 30th 2004.

Thursday 7th October

  • 4:00pm Coach pick up from M&IT Show
  • 5:00pm Boat from Tower Bridge to Canary Wharf (if you do not wish to take the coach, you can meet at the dock)
  • 6:00pm Tour of Canary Wharf and venues
  • 7:15pm Coaches to onsite hotels at ExCeL
  • 8:30pm Party in ExCeL’s Platinum Suite
  • Overnight stay in hotel with breakfast

Friday 8th October

  • 8:30am Registration and coffee
  • 9:00am Presentation by Visit London to include the following topics:
  • Showcasing the best London has to offer
  • Update on London venues
  • Revealing what more will be on offer in the future, including how the 2012 Olympic bid will affect the infrastructure
  • Case studies on conferences in London
  • 12:00pm Buffet lunch and optional site tours
