The Mazda London Triathlon 9 & 10 August 2008
ExCeL London and Royal Victoria Dock
The London Triathlon, the largest triathlon in the world, takes place at ExCeL London and Royal Victoria Dock on 9th & 10th August.
Over 10,000 people are expected to compete and the event is open to all levels from amateur athletes to elite competitors. Some of the world's leading triathletes will be competing. Channel 4 will be filming the event with an estimated thirty thousand people on site over the weekend.
Road and Parking Access Restrictions
For 2008 the run route for the Triathlon runs along the far side of the dock along the back of the Capital East, the Novotel & Ibis Hotel, and through Royal Victoria square.
Access to Capital East, Novotel, Ibis & Crowne Plaza will be unrestricted for residents and guests from Western Gateway, although please note that the road access to ExCeL London site from the West will be altered so please refer to the course maps and associated timings. Exiting the Multi storey car park and The Crowne plaza car park will be back via Western Gateway.
Access to WE1 & WE2 and the Grain Store flats will be via the pedestrian walkway from Western gateway, or walking through the ExCeL London Multi storey car park. Please note your car park will not be accessible in or out from 07.00 on Saturday 9th August until 20.00 on Sunday 10th August.
Pedestrians who wish to access the Grain Store (N, O, P Warehouse), & K Warehouse from the Custom House DLR station will be required to cross a pedestrian bridge at the foot of the West podium, in order to cross the race route safely.
The dock edge bollards will be removed at the west side of Capital East to allow for the Triathlon run route. Please DO NOT attempt to park or access these areas with vehicles.
Vehicles (cars & motor bikes) will be removed and subject to a fine. Commercial properties please refer to the on site Delivery notice; similarly access to the dock edge is strictly prohibited.
Access to the Grain Store (N, O, P Warehouse), & K Warehouse will be partially restricted. Egress from the Grain Store will be restricted. There will not be any vehicle access via the north roads Seagull and Sandstone Lane from the east or west of site from 07.00 on Saturday 9th August until 20.00 on Sunday 10th August.
Please note that all the parking bays North of Seagull lane (W & K Warehouse parking, North West Lorry Park, and Contractors car park) will be subject to these restrictions too.
Whilst the route will affect vehicle access to parts of the ExCeL Campus, we have taken the following steps to reduce any inconvenience that this may cause.
Use of the ExCeL London Multi Story car park - Any residents who own a space in the affected car parks a 24hr access into the ExCeL London Multi Story car park who require a car park pass please contact your apartment block manager before 4th August.
