The London International Wine Fair transferred from Olympia to ExCeL London in 2001. During the show's 10 years at ExCeL London visitor numbers have increased by 25% from 11,009 to 13,754.
Brintex, the organisers of the London International Wine Fair, have been able to take advantage of ExCeL London's close proximately to London City Airport to attract more attendees from outside the UK. In 2011 24% of visitors to the show and 50% of all exhibitors travelled to the event from abroad.
ExCeL London was selected as the ideal venue for the London International Wine Fair as the climate controlled event halls and flexible pillar-free space have enabled their exhibitors to create single and double height stands to show their products at their best.
In 2009 the Fair was voted the world's Best Trade Event at the highly respected Association of Exhibition Organisers annual awards.
The Future
The London International Wine Fair 2011 was a great success. Features at the Fair are a vital part of the event's mix and set the LIWF apart from its European competitors. For the first time in the event's history, the top châteaux of Bordeaux displayed a selection of the 2007 vintage at the 2011 show, and the Fair continues to break boundaries in terms of innovation and incorporating the latest technological enhancements.
