The ESCRS is Europe's leading organisation for cataract and refractive surgeons and is at the forefront of developments in anterior segment surgery. As part of the ESCRS remit to promote ongoing advancement in ophthalmology, an annual event is held, offering a forum for peer dialogue, continuing professional education and supporting scientific research.

ExCeL London played host to the largest number of delegates ever seen at an ESCRS conference. Previous venues for the event have included the Centro de Congressos in Lisbon, Le Palais des Congres, Paris and ICM in Munich.
The kudos of London, coupled with the venue's location in the capital's fastest growing area were all important factors in bringing the event to London. Other contributing factors were ExCeL London's ease of access, choice of catering outlets and flexible space that could accommodate growth of the event.
The main congress, technical exhibition, lecture halls and registration area were held in ExCeL London's flexible Event Halls. The adjoining Platinum Suite and smaller Gallery Rooms were used as additional conference rooms.
