- Requirements
EMAP Networks were looking for a location to hold their inaugural annual conference to discuss patient safety issues amongst 600 healthcare professionals. Market feedback had shown that delegates wanted to meet in London.
The 2 day event required a flexible, first-class venue which had easy access and plenty of hotel choice, but where the location would not offer too many distractions for the delegates.
The venue needed to accommodate a plenary session and break-out sessions. Additional events included a breakfast briefing, exhibition, key partners' area and an evening gala dinner.
- Event Solution
Set within a self-contained campus with excellent train links from central London, plenty of onsite parking and six hotels providing budget to 3-star accommodation, ExCeL London ticket all the boxes.
ExCeL London's contemporary, stand-alone Platinum Suite was used for the conference. On arrival, delegates registered within the Level 1 reception area and from here took the escalator or lift up to the main plenary session and exhibition area on Level 3.
A buffet lunch was held within the exhibition area and lobby area on Level 2, where delegates could network with the key partners.
During the lunch break the main plenary room was sub-divided into two ready-made break-out rooms. This was effortlessly achieved by splitting the plenary room's stage, which had originally been configured with two screens and two speaker podiums. Additional break-out rooms were used on Level 2.
At the end of the day, delegates were able to walk back to their hotel rooms and return 1-hour later for a 3-course dinner in the Platinum Room.
The key highlight of the conference was the surprise guest appearance of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Delegates were able to network and exchange ideas in a professional business environment with easy access and a good choice of hotel accommodation..
