- Client - Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd
- Event - 'Creating the Extraordinary Together'
- Delegate Numbers - 4,000
- Requirements
Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) required a flexible venue to host their largest event for 17 years for UK staff, customers and stakeholders. The objectives of the 'Creating the Extraordinary Together' event was to inspire all those involved in CCE's future and encourage them to achieve their 2014 goals together.
The journey to 2014 will be energised by CCE's sponsorship of the 2012 London Olympics and one of the main reasons ExCeL London was selected was that it will be hosting 7 Olympic and 6 Paralympic events in 2012.
Over 4,000 delegates, from across the UK attended the two day event, so a flexible venue with good transport links was essential. The event was also attended by Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd Global President, John Brock, so event organisers needed to feel confident that the venue could accommodate exclusive VIP guests.
The venue also needed to accommodate top Olympic athletes such as Mark Lewis Francis, Marlon Deavonish, and Britain’s number one woman’s wheelchair basketball team, who required special catering and facility needs.
- Event Solution
All about the Idea needed to create an extraordinary Coca-Cola Olympic atmosphere to inspire, uplift and open the minds of the audience. There needed to be scale, energy and expectation. Upon arrival the audiences entered via a 10 metre high glowing red coke bottle door into the 'Olympic Village' and then on into the 'Exchange Zone', the 'opening ceremony' and the five strategy zones. There was even a space where the 700 members of the audience could attempt a world record.
Therefore the venue needed to have space and height and ExCeL London’s flexible, flat-floor event halls, unrestricted by pillars or awkward corners, provided Coca Cola Enterprises' creative agency All about the Idea with a blank canvas on which to develop their vision. ExCeL London also offered the space and facilities needed to organise each of the audiences prior to entry into the Coca-Cola halls.
All about the Idea also worked closely with Leith's Catering to overcome the challenge of feeding 350 VIP customers, each evening, whilst watching the Olympic baton exchange display. The solution was to design and produce one off luxury hamper boxes which slotted into the raked arena seating and provided individual audience members with a lavish self service catering unit.
The event welcomed 4,000 staff, customers and stakeholders from across the UK, who took advantage of fast transport connections to the venue. With 3 onsite DLR stations, easy access to London Underground and 3,700 onsite parking spaces, ExCeL London offered easy access for all attendees.

On time, on budget, a very satisfying and enjoyable experience" Derrick Tuke-Hastings founding partner All about the Idea.
